Episode 14: Exploring Methane Technology, Measurement, and Mitigation with Climate Investment

In this episode of Methane Talks, we are joined by Daniel Palmer, Managing Director for Commercialization at Climate Investment.

Listen as he discusses how Climate Investment is bridging the gap between methane-focused startups and operators, their aim to achieve a reduction of more than 100 MT CO2e per year by 2030 across their portfolio, and Daniel’s insights on the future of climate finance and investment.

Daniel joined Climate Investment in 2019 and works closely with its methane solution providers, serving as a board member of Qnergy, and board observer at more of Climate Investment’s portfolio companies. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Cambridge, and has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including roles in oil and gas as well as renewables.

Climate Investment is an independent organization founded by members of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI). They invest in innovations that deliver capital-efficient decarbonization solutions and drive market adoption through partner networks to accelerate scaled impact. Their primary goal is to maximize the impact of their portfolio companies’ solutions through market adoption.

To achieve this, they have developed and operationalized a GHG impact measurement methodology, which they use to set targets and measure impact delivery. They share this methodology with their portfolio companies and assist them in operationalizing their impact reporting.
