In this episode of Methane Talks, we are joined by Methane Emissions Leadership Aliiance's (MELA’s) Director, Jackson Hegland, along with Executive Director, Blake Wickland.

Listen as Jackson and Blake share years of industry knowledge and expertise on Canada’s methane mitigation landscape and the considerations you need to keep in mind when developing tech for use in this environment.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Calgary, the Methane Emissions Leadership Alliance (MELA) serves the oil & natural gas production, processing, and transmission sector, acting as a hub for businesses that offer innovative and accessible solutions to methane emissions reductions. Working in collaboration with federal and provincial governments and regulators to design policies and regulatory mechanisms, MELA aims to create a comprehensive methane emissions management plan with over 40 member companies.

Jackson graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Environmental Economics and is President and CEO of the Modern West Group of Companies, which includes Modern West Advisory, one of Canada’s leading ESG and carbon management strategic advisory firms (GHG emissions accounting, carbon markets, life-cycle analysis, ESG strategy, reporting and scenario analysis), and the Modern West Climate Finance Group, an investment vehicle for nature-based carbon removal projects and clean technology.

Meanwhile, Mr. Wickland serves as the Executive Director of MELA and is the founder of Elevation Energy Consulting in Alberta, Canada. With a unique combination of field and corporate office experience in the energy sector for the past 29 years across several global jurisdictions, he has held numerous positions focused on fieldwork, project management, quality control, operations, executive leadership, and emissions reduction.
