Add bookmarkThe Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) emerged from the pursuit of a more equitable economic relationship between Latin American and Caribbean nations, in response to significant imbalances between energy consumption and the capacity to meet demand with local resources. Recognizing regional integration as a promising approach to address energy needs and reduce trade imbalances for oil-importing countries, the championed the establishment of a regional organization focused on energy development.
In this episode of Methane Talks, we are joined by Gaston Siroit, Technical Advisor to the Executive Secretary - OLADE and María Alejandra Garzón Sánchez, Technical Specialist - Methane Emissions Observatory of Latin America and the Caribbean – OEMLAC.
Gaston has over 20 years of experience in project development, financing, and regulatory framework for the energy sector, working in both private and public sectors, and multilateral organizations. On the other hand, María Alejandra is an environmental engineer, with expertise and experience in the regulation and implementation of the REDD+ mechanism, the national mitigation Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification System, and the National Safeguards System.
