Every day in the U.S., 15 workers die on the job. Most of these deaths are preventable. Workplace accidents and injuries have major negative implications for organizations from a business perspective. The direct costs of work-related deaths and injuries globally are nearly $3T every year. Organizations that improve safety reap enormous benefits from improved productivity, higher earnings and sales to lower turnover, better brand reputation and more. Currently, much of the emphasis on worker safety has been at the least effective levels of the risk management hierarchy of controls – basic PPE and administrative controls.
