Erica H. Pencak is an Attorney-Advisor (International) with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Prior to joining CLDP, Ms. Pencak spent 14 years in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she enforced civil and criminal provisions of federal environmental, wildlife, and worker safety laws. She also developed and delivered international capacity-building programming aimed at combatting nature crimes. Ms. Pencak holds a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law School, and a B.A. in Sociology from The George Washington University, where she graduated summa cum laude and studied for a year at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to completing her legal studies, Ms. Pencak worked at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, DC, the Center for International Environmental Law in Geneva, Switzerland, and the United Nations Environment Programme, in Nairobi, Kenya.
