Tackling Methane Emissions Across the Value Chain
The need for oil and gas organizations to confront the issue of methane emissions has never been more critical. International regulations, investor expectations and public opinion are evolving, necessitating operators to take a proactive approach not only in the detection and measurement of methane emissions, but also in swiftly implementing effective measures to reduce them.
Each vertical of the oil and gas industry faces their own unique challenges, that's why at the Methane Mitigation: Technology & Innovation Summit, we have dedicated tracks running throughout the event to allow you to cater the agenda to your needs. Below you'll find a small taste of the tracks that are running on day two of the event, and how they can assist you in your methane reduction goals.
TRACK A
DISPERSED OPERATIONS
During this track, you’ll hear an operator’s perspective on maintaining low levels of flaring, gain insights into strategies for optimizing LDAR programs, leading to increased efficiency, and Phillips66 will be discussing electrifying operations as a means of methane mitigation. This includes, eliminating gas pneumatic pumps and controllers from operations, understanding the logistical and infrastructural issues associated with mass-scale electrification, and utilizing liquid nitrogen in areas where grids don’t exist.
Learn more in the official event guide.
TRACK B
MIDSTREAM/DOWNSTREAM OPERATIONS
During this track we will be discussing how to establish robust leak detection and quantification methods for pipelines, using top-down and bottom-up methods at midstream natural gas facilities to develop empirical estimates, and Southern Star Central Pipeline, and Open Grid Europe (OPE), will be sharing valuable insights into creating a culture of mitigation in the mid and downstream sector, which includes discussing the scalability of implementing new technologies.
TRACK C
UPSTREAM OPERATIONS
During this track, you will get an overview of Shell’s measurement-based approach for enhanced methane emissions performance reporting, and explore learnings from Shell’s implementation of OGMP 2.0 practices for source and site-level methane emissions measurement field campaigns. Plus, Petrobras and Petronas will be sharing how to construct a methane mitigation program for offshore assets. They will address remote locations, harsh conditions, and accessibility hurdles as barriers to offshore methane mitigation.
