At COP28 Italgas was recognised for their considerable expertise in the measurement of CH4 emissions and adoption of innovative technologies. Moreover, Italgas has been awarded the title of having one of the most ambitious implementation plans in the distribution sector. In this case study they will share key experience on:  

• Testing and implementing new technology to align with OGMP 2.0 requirements 
• Determining the specific methodologies needed for DSO’s 
• Coordinating the Smart Maintenance of networks and plants by pursuing a predictive maintenance-oriented approach

We all know methane emissions are defined by their intermittent nature and in comparison, to mobile sensing devices, CEMS present a unique opportunity to detect emitting events in real-time. However, several key questions remain regarding accuracy and implementation. In this expert dialogue our panel will: 

• Evaluate the probability of detection and the viability of continuous monitoring data within the reconciliation process 
• Debate if continuous monitoring be an accepted method for OGMP 2.0 
• Explore common challenges faced in implementing continuous monitoring systems, such as data integration, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance
