Rod Robinson

Principal Research Scientist National Physical Laboratory

Rod Robinson is a Principal Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory, the UK's national metrology institute. Rod has responsibility for emissions monitoring and has been involved in the measurement of diffuse and fugitive emissions for over 30 years. He is currently chair of CEN TC 264, which is responsible for standards related to air quality and emissions to air, and he is convenor of WG38 which is drafting standards for the use of OGI cameras for leak detection and a standard for the quantification of site level methane emissions.

Main Conference Day 1: Wednesday 26th February

3:25 PM Advancing Mitigation Through Standardisation

  • An update on standardisation activities in support of methane mitigation
  • Understand the needs and requirements for standards
  • Be informed of current activities in CEN and ISO on standardisation for methane emissions monitoring including source level leak detection, quantification, site level emissions quantification, and reporting standards
  • An update on pre-normative research activities

Main Conference Day 2: Thursday 27th February

1:50 PM Panel: Voices of Standardisation: CEN Working Group Exchange

The standards CEN develop play a unique role: they support policy objectives and provide stakeholders with clear, up-to-date and market-oriented guidance that is based on the consensus of a wide array of experts. This is what makes standards one of the most efficient tools to support the journey towards widespread methane reduction. Join our panellists from 4 different working groups as they discuss recent progress and debate how standards can be developed in a durable manner which doesn’t stifle industry innovation.
