Dr. Scherello completed his studies at Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany as Dipl.-Ing. Mechanical Engineering. He specializes at Energy Technologies (Power Plant Combustion Simulation). In 1996 he finished his PhD thesis about pressurized coal combustion. Then he switched to Gas- und Wärme-Institute, Essen, Germany and became Head of the Dept. Industrial Gas Utilization. Since 2007 Dr. Scherello is with E.ON Ruhrgas and later with OGE (Open-Grid Europe) as Project Leader CHARM®. In parallel he is working in several committees of the German Gas Association (DVGW) and CEN for standard and guideline generation on the topics of methane detection, quantification and pipeline safety.
The standards CEN develop play a unique role: they support policy objectives and provide stakeholders with clear, up-to-date and market-oriented guidance that is based on the consensus of a wide array of experts. This is what makes standards one of the most efficient tools to support the journey towards widespread methane reduction. Join our panellists from 4 different working groups as they discuss recent progress and debate how standards can be developed in a durable manner which doesn’t stifle industry innovation.
