RIVIR is pioneering the development of an industrial satellite IoT gateway system for the emerging Low Earth Orbit (LEO) cellular satellite networks by companies like SpaceX. These networks are particularly suited for connecting remote Oil and Gas assets. The challenge with these new networks involves the doppler shift caused by LEO satellites orbiting hundreds of kilometres above the Earth’s surface at speeds of 7.7 km/s. This shift complicates reliable connectivity for conventional cellular IoT devices. RIVIR's innovative system has addressed these challenges and incorporates the LwM2M standard, explicitly designed for NTN (non terrestrial network) IoT applications. RIVIR's approach uses digital twinning both in the gateway and cloud environments, effectively managing latency issues typically associated with LEO networks, reducing IoT data payloads by up to 88% and ensuring exceptional performance and reliability of data transfer. RIVIR offers an ideal, cost-effective solution for detecting, measuring and reporting fugitive emissions and other critical data from oil and gas sites.
