John Adams

John Adams serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of NGIF Capital, a venture capital firm that partners with cleantech startups with solutions for the gaseous energy sector. NGIF Capital manages Cleantech Ventures Fund I (Fund I), an industry-driven $50 million venture capital fund focusing on early-stage investments. John is the Managing Partner of this fund. John is also the President and CEO of NGIF Accelerator, a not-for-profit that operates NGIF Capital’s technology and innovation programs, including the Industry Grants program and the Emissions Testing Centre program. John has over 30 years of experience in financing, cleantech, investment, energy, venture capital, and portfolio management. In addition, he holds positions on the following boards: • Board Member and Audit and Finance Committee Member, CRIN • Board Member for Fund I portfolio companies Ionada, Lelantos, and CarboNet Nanotechnologies and Board Observer for ThermoLift, Galatea Technologies, and Ionomr Innovations. John has participated in numerous selection juries, including for the International Gas Union’s Research, Development, and Innovation Committee, Natural Resources Canada, and Emissions Reduction Alberta. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Toronto and completed the Berkley Venture Capital Executive Program. John is pursuing the ICD (Institute of Corporate Directors) Rotman Directors Education Program to achieve his ICD. D certification. He received notable awards, including Canada’s Clean50 in 2022.
