Marlena Nickel

Marlena Nickel is the IoT Center of Excellence Lead for Shell. She is responsible for creating and leading Shell’s IoT and Edge Strategy and has pioneered the first use of LoRa LPWAN technology in the Oil & Gas industry. Her team’s focus is to identify, incubate, and de-risk new IoT technologies which can be implemented anywhere in Shell. In her 25 years with Shell, Ms. Nickel has led efforts globally in process excellence, key IT strategic priorities, and reorganizations. Marlena has held positions in Portfolio Management, Project Functional Excellence, championing Value Delivery, Financial Analysis, Business Intelligence (data modelling, reverse engineering, data warehouse development), and the Global SAP BW implementation for Shell Chemicals.
